"The Indian sari: Draping Bodies, Revealing Lives": at the Goldstein Gallery, St. Paul, Minnesota, January-march1998

A first glance / Themes / Families of saris / Who made it happen?
During the opening lecture, Chantal Boulanger and Hazel Lutz demonstrate how to drape every kind of saris.
Chantal Boulanger shows slides, taken during her field research, of women wearing different styles of saris. She then explains, family by family, why the styles in each are similar and how the families are different.

The audience thus gets a good understanding of the main types of draping techniques.
The lecture was not only informative but also highly entertaining!
